ACE INCLUSION DEPARTMENT

At ACE of BRUSSELS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, our Inclusion Department supports students who would benefit from additional academic, social, emotional or developmental support.
​
Led by our Head of Inclusion, Ms Camille Bernier, our multidisciplinary team works closely together to understand each student’s strengths and needs, to create the right conditions for them in which to learn, develop and participate fully in school life.
​
Each student has an Individual Learning Plan which guides their learning and support according to their individual profile, needs and pace.
Three programmes - one inclusive approach!
ACE RISING
Early Years & Primary
ACE RISING is our inclusion programme for younger students.
Students are primarily part of the mainstream school environment, learning and participating alongside their peers. When additional support is needed, they may also work in a smaller setting with the Inclusion team.
ACE PLUS
Secondary
ACE PLUS is the secondary version of our ACE RISING programme.
Students remain primarily within the mainstream environment, while receiving additional support tailored to their individual learning, social and emotional needs. When appropriate, students may work in smaller groups or in a dedicated setting with the Inclusion team.
ACE CONNECT
Intensive Learning & Support
​
ACE CONNECT provides a more structured and intensive learning environment for students who require a higher level of individualised support.
Students are primarily based in a dedicated classroom, where they can work individually or in small groups in an environment designed around their needs. The space includes individual learning stations, group learning areas, a motor room and a sensory room.
Where appropriate, students may participate in mainstream classes and activities, with the level of inclusion determined by the educational team and the individual needs of the student.
A team around every child

Every student has a dedicated Case Manager who coordinates their support and ensures close collaboration between the child, family, teachers and specialists.
​
Depending on their individual needs, students may benefit from:
Occupational Therapy · Speech & Language Therapy · Music Therapy · Food Therapy · Motor Skills Classes · Academic & Learning Support.

Our specialists work closely with teachers and families to provide a coordinated and consistent approach around each child.
Flexible support that evolves
​
Every child develops differently, and their needs can change over time. Their level of support and participation is therefore regularly reviewed by the educational team and adapted as appropriate.
Our aim is to provide each student with the right balance of support, challenge, independence and inclusion, helping them develop their confidence and reach their potential.
Every student is different. Our approach is too.
